Management Structure of the SALA Pension Fund
The SALA Pension Fund is managed by a Board members (Trustees), which is composed of 13 representatives ,10 municipality employees rep elect, and 3 employers . This governance structure ensures that the interests of all stakeholders are considered in the decision-making making
In addition to employer and employee representatives, the South African Police Services (SAPS) also has representation on the Board of Trustees. SAPS elects one member trustee and appoints one employer trustee to serve on the Board.
Trustee Responsibilities
The trustees of the SALA Pension Fund perform their responsibilities in accordance with relevant legislation, including:
1. The Pension Funds Act (No. 24 of 1956)
2. The Income Tax Act (No. 58 of 1962)
3. Other applicable legislation
These laws provide a framework for the trustees to manage the pension fund in a responsible and transparent manner.
