Release from Liability

1. Where members have indicated on the benefit claim form that a cheque is required, the cheque may only be produced once the fully completed release from liability form is received.
2. It is in all members’/spouses’/dependents’ interest to open bank accounts to avoid fraud on benefit amounts paid by cheque.
3. With effect from 1 June 2001 banks will no longer assume any responsibility for “not transferable” cheques.
4. With effect from 1 June 2001 “not transferable” cheques will not be allowed to be endorsed or paid into a third party’s account.
